oh my god…i will never ever forget this weekend because it was the best weekend i’ve ever had in my life…we got to tokyo on friday and only really had that whole day to walk around…so we went around the “harajuku” area and just walked and were completely overwhelmed with the number of shops upon shops upon shops that were in that area. it was weird because it seemed like no matter WHAT your taste, style and hobbies, that you were able to find it in this little area. not only that but throughout japan (or maybe more like tokyo) you’ll be able to find whatever you wanted…

we were living in the “shinjuku” area which is a pretty cool area if you’ve never been…basically open 24 hours and lots and lots of people…lots and lots of weird people too! hahaha…i think this HAS to be where those infamous japanese “AV” video’s must be shot! there were hundreds of these dudes dressed up in cheap and ugly suits with a little briefcase in their hands. then when any girl would walk through the area they would approach her and ask for something…weird stuff i tell you!

dude…i seriously can’t remember anything else from friday…because it was just walking around…checking out japanese life…japanese people…and then we met my old frind Tony Hardcore!!! this guy is who brought Envy here many years ago and is a very very close friend of mine…he came out to see us in shinjuku and had to take an hour train ride to see me! nice and awesome guy…i have photos but i’m too tired to download them from my camera now…he told us that the area we were staying in is actually a HEAVY mafia/triad area with Taiwanese mafia present, korean mafia, and the infamous Japanese Yakuza mafia here too…yippee! hahaha…but he said it was safe…

    then saturday was the day…

this was the day we had been waiting for…besides Richie and myself, our good friends from Irresistable Hearts (ah ho and ah chun) came to japan with us…they also brought their good friend too so it was 5 of us total…

we got up early because Tony told us that it would take at least an hour to travel all the way out to the venue…Opeth was playing at 12 so we had to get there as early as possible!!!

it really really was a LONG train ride…but the cool thing was that on the way there all of a sudden we started noticing a lot of metal and hardcore kids…lots of people wearing old school Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, t-shirts as well as the newer metal stuff like Shadows Fall, Lamb of God, etc…

we were late getting to the venue and as we were appraoching the venue we could hear Opeth!!! so we started running like idiots…but this venue was HUGE!!! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BIG!!! it was like the checkin area of the HK airport but 5 times the size!!! i couldn’t believe how big it was!!! but more insane, i couldn’t believe HOW MANY people were there!!! there must’ve been somewhere between 20,000 to 30,000 people there! ALL THERE TO WATCH METAL!!! WHAT?!??!?! SOOOOOOOOOOO cool…

oh man…too many good things happened and i am TOO tired to type them all up now…so i’ll stop at watching Opeth – remember this is only the FIRST band we watched and i am still ONLY talking about the first day of the festival!!! :-) nora and dragonforce will be next in my story…and then later on we still have archy enemy, anthrax, and megadeth for the first day…

and THEN i’ll get to the second day…the day that will go down as the greatest day of my life…with amazing bands, INSANE moshing, the BIGGEST mosh pit i have EVER seen, and the BIGGEST circle pit(s) i have ever EVER EVER EVER EVER been in!!!

loud park 07…see you there for SURE!!!

woah – friday the 13th!!! be careful today everyone! hahahaha…the big day is here for me and my pal richie…we’ve been waiting for this day for a few months now…and we’re finally off to japan. this will be the first time i’ve been in Tokyo since i was 6 years old! i remember that the only thing i did in tokyo was go to the japanese disneyland which i thought sucked…i also remember walking around and checking out this HUGE toy store! it was rad!!! hahahaha…this time around i’m going with friends with my own money and hopefully be able to buy some stuff. but i don’t have a lot of cash so we’ll see what happens…

Slayer on Sunday. i can die a happy happy happy man. this is my wish list for songs they have to play:

    war ensemble
    dead skin mask
    south of heaven
    angel of death
    postmortem
    reign in blood
    seasons in the abyss
    spirit in black
    mandatory suicide
    spill the blood

yes…i hope they ONLY play stuff off of reign in blood, south of heaven, and seasons in the abyss…hahahaha…but knowing my luck they’re going to play stuff off of all the post-seasons in the abyss crap…hahahaha…but i don’t care…

anthrax on saturday…what the hell…they better play everything off of among the living…i want to here NFL (efilnicufesin)…that crazy “indians” song…hahahaha…and play stuff off of persistence in time!!! that was such a good record…can’t wait…can’t wait…

megadeth – don’t play ANYTHING but EVERYTHING off of rust in peace!!! oh man…that would be a dream to watch hangar 18, holy wars, stuff like that LIVE!!! oh man…what a dream…

this is going to be the MOST metal weekend i’ve ever had in my life and i’m never going to forget it…i know it…

we finally started recording some new demo’s! woohoo!!! 2 days ago we were there for so long trying to record stuff…our bro Chai the technical genius figured it all out so we could record directly to his laptop! :-) the dude’s a genius…so i went to work yesterday on 4 hours of sleep…after work i went to teach guitar to 2 different students. one of them just got a new dog and i SWEAR to god its the size of a frickin’ horse!!! this dog is HUGE!!! its called a “great dane” so if you know about these dogs then you know that some of these dogs can grow to become over 260 pounds!!! i was scared when i first saw this beast of a dog – but its such a sweet dog…kind of “dai nung” – don’t know how to say that in english. hahaha…i suck…

i love when “long hair” protests inside Legco…i love it even more when he protests DURING the chief executive’s policy address! hahaha…he’s awesome! to interrupt the leader of this city during a HUGELY important speech is just so cool. and “long hair” protest was trying to tell the chief executive to legislate minimum wage in hong kong! how can this be such a complicated thing to legislate and enforce in hong kong? minimum wage will destroy this city’s market economy? i DON’T think so. if anything it will strengthen the view that Hong Kong is truly a modern, civilized society where the value of the common man is respected and valued. but no – the chief is going to side-step the minimum wage issue, dance around the air-pollution problem and mosh to the tune of instilling the stupid goods & services tax…how can beijing thing that we can’t find someone better?

tomorrow flying to japan…dont’ know what to expect…if you have any COOL area’s in tokyo that we should check out then PLEASE post it up on our forum!!! CLICK HERE!!!  peace!

hey good news! a US record label called Shnarler Records is going to release our last CD “Under One Flag” in the US!!! woohoo!!! it’ll be released on November 14th in the US and you can find more information by going to their myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/1189056

wow – n. korea has tested a nuclear weapon…that’s pretty intense if you think about it. but you know what? their are 8 countries that already have nuclear weapons and have tested them. so there’s a sense of a double standard if you ask me. the US is so adamant about NOT Letting anyone have nuclear weapons that they cause the biggest fuss about these things when another country wants to have one (Iran and N. Korea in particular). iran has said over and over that they just want to use nuclear energy for peaceful means – and this is such a big problem for the idiotic US government. but N. Korea is a different situation in the fact that the leader of this country is a weird weird guy who you can NEVER tell what he’ll do…is this the start of World War III and some people have said? i don’t think so…

dude…countdown begins…a few more days…its crazy how fast time flies once you’re older…i remember it was june this year when i found out about this crazy metal festival in japan…and now its only a few days away…how the hell did that happen? where does the time go? its not like i haven’t done a lot – quite the contrary, have done and accomplished SO much along with dealing with a lot of crap as usual…but damn does time just disappear every time you blink or what? its nuts…

so the new prime minister of japan is in china now…i wonder what he’s going to say to help calm the situation or to help build a better relationship between these two countries…let’s see what happens. i’m too tired right now to read any of the online news websites to get updates on this meeting…but i’m sure monday morning’s newspapers will be talking about it…

we have a couple of topics for the second song that we’ve written…either the plight of asylum seekers here in hong kong OR the plight of domestic helpers…its cool right now because we have pretty cool discussions with each other to try and get ideas for lyrics AND to hear each other’s views. Man’s views are quite different from mine and G’s and its cool to hear his views because it helps gives a whole DIFFERENT perspective on the topic…SO – we haven’t decided on the topic yet…but hopefully both these songs will be ready for us to play before the end of this year! woohoo!!!

DUDE! Sepultura – the original band is back together!!! check out their first OFFICIAL practice video on our forum!!! http://forum.talkmusic.org/t5688-original-sepultura-back-together-yeah.html HAHAHAHAHAHAHA…then you can post on our forum how much you hate me! :-)

watched the departed last night…i thought it was pretty cool…i think it would’ve been even better if i had NEVER seen the Hong Kong version…its very easy to compare both movies. there’s one section where they get a bunch of obviously ABC chinese people speaking in cantonese and i was so proud that my chinese was NOT as bad as theirs! hahahaha…wait til you see that part – you’ll know what i’m talking about…

had a good night watching some awesome bands last night at the edge…but i was sick as hell so all night i had a runny nose, felt dizzy and a pounding headache…these are not necessarily the best things to have when going to watch a show with pounding drums…hahahaha..the first band that played was Kick Ball Car…man – this band is SOOOOO good!!! i love that this whole emo/punk thing has kicked in HK this past year or so…it seems the same thing is happening up in China too (nic the lovesong said that a recent “emo takes over china” compilation CD came out featuring China emo bands and the lovesong as well…)…anyway – kick ball car was amazing…then came on the acoustic man himself Benson which was rad…he called some girl and played a song for her over the phone while on stage which was nice…i took note just in case i have to ever do something like this for my girlfriend! hahahaha…

it was a tiring night cause i was so sick…the lovesong were awesome again as usual…i know they don’t want me to mention this but they messed up big time in their last song! hahahaha…i know ben and nic are going to KILL me for saying that on here! but they were still awesome…this band always commands attention on stage because they’re music is such a barrage of emotions and sounds – even though collectively, this is probably one of the shyest bands on the planet! hahahaha…once they get going its amazing…great low end, great guitar lines on top…you haven’t seen these guys yet then you’re SERIOUSLY missing out…

dude – a teacher is thrown in jail for having sex with a 12 year old girl. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?! 12 years old! and the man is a TEACHER…what kind of retarded mentally ill person would do a thing like that.

yo…next week today i will be on a plane with my bro Richie (stw) and Ho (ih) flying to tokyo! :-) to watch the crazy world of metal at the loudpark fest there…its going to be OFF THE HOOK…

dude – new world record…two jams = brand new song. WHAT? yes – you heard it first…we have the skeletons of 2 brand new songs already…its quite crazy if you ask me…but no one in the band is complaining…

its friday my dearies…and its “zhong chao jeet” so most people will be hanging out with their families tonight. not me – i’ll be watching the lovesong at an expensive show at the edge tonight…don’t know what i’m doing before or after though. also – today marks the last 2 days that Man will be working at his current job! woohoo!!! its going to be rad once he gets of this crazy job that requires him to work like 14 hours a day!!! insane…

    tired going to sleep…

you think HK’s pollution is bad? look at malaysia! because of all those fires breaking out in indonesia, malaysia has been blanketed in disgusting, unhealthy pollution…

forgot to upload my message yesterday…sorry all…look below for what i wrote yesterday…

besides the upcoming 17-band extravaganza at City U on oct 29 (this is our first show in HK since april!!!)…we have added a new show at the Warehouse on Nov 25 organized by the nice people at HKU! :-) that show features Elf Fatima and False Alarm so we’re really excited to play with bands of different genre’s…should be rad. hopefully by that show we might actually have a new song ready to go! hahahha…yeah right…

    okay…going to bed…yes its 8:35pm and i’m SOOOOOOOOO tired…

    peace out…

    ***yesterday’s missing message
NEW I TUNES SUCKS!!! oh my god…i’ve been sitting here for the like past half hour trying to import the new Walls of Jericho record and the stupid i tunes software is so slow now…DON’T download the latest version (7.0 or 7.0.1)…it sucks…its so slow that its driving me insane..

this discussion of minimum wages in hong kong is also driving me insane. why won’t the government implement a minimum wage? some of the big chambers of commerce are saying because its hard to enforce this rule. but why is it hard? just check the accounts of businesses at the end of every few months to see what they’re reporting in the amount of wages they pay out to their employees! doing this will just help establish hong kong as a truly industrialized city on this planet. people working for 2k a month but working 18 hours a day? how is that fair? that’s just crap if you ask me (i know you didn’t…but just thought i’d share my thoughts).

ok ok ok…i’ll stop being negative…

in one week this little Mr. Farooqi is going to be watching Anthrax, Megadeth and the legendary-god-like Slayer…i can’t believe it…can’t believe it…will not believe it…our pals in Buddhiston actually have “all area access” passes!!! those bastards! hahahaha…they go anywhere…i’ve been trying to tell them to just let me take a photo with Kerry King…that’s all i want! i can die a happy man if that happens! :-)

yo…we went to go look at some new places for our bandroom…went to one place that looks super nice but is too damn far away for any of us…it would be amazing to be there though because they have 3 rooms…one is large enough to have beds in there! hahaha…we could all sleep there in peace if need be…but the “yip zhu” wants to show us another place. we’re not going to be able to see it until this saturday…hopefully its nicer – the location is MUCH better…so we’ll see what happens…

man and i started a new song last night! we finished our first new song a few days ago…the song’s not actually really “finished” but at least we have the song written and then need to edit parts here and there. but that’s good news at least that we’ve got something new written! :-) the one we started yesterday has this riff that i’ve been wanting to use for the past 2 months…so i’m happy to finally get the riff written…G and i are going to have to sit down to think about words/topics for songs soon. she has this one amazing idea to talk about anorexia based on a friend of hers that just went through it. so that could be a song idea…

shit – i don’t remember if i mentioned this…but two days ago man and i jammed with our good pal (and basically the 6th member of KLC really! hahaha) chai on old metal classics. dude it was awesome! we jammed on Desperate Cry…Fade to Black…For Whom the Bell Tolls…hahahaha…it was rad…Desparate Cry sounded amazing!!! for all you sepultura fans – you should know that song for sure…that was fun…good times…

the government has this new idea to start a website that talks about HK’s history with photos of historic sites, buildings and things like that so people can find out about our history. but the problem is – why are they making this website instead of actually protecting REAL buildings and REAL things that people can go see with their own eyes and touch with their hands? who needs a website of pictures? you can just go buy a book! you can never compare photos in a book to actually SEEING the real thing with your own eyes and let yourself be transported back in time…so two thumbs down to our government, again, for not doing their civic duty by protecting and respecting this city’s rich history.
